15 DECEMBER 2021 - TWO "CHRISTMAS MARKET" TRAINS: 6233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND '1Z34 TYSELEY STEAM TRUST TO YORK' & 46100 ROYAL SCOT '1Z40 LLANDUDNO TO YORK' AT SWINTON (SY) STATION.

...Yes one from Llandudno (1Z40 0704) and one from Tyseley Stream Trust (1Z34 0830). Both these would pass through the South Yorkshire railway station of Swinton Interchange within approximately 14 minutes of one another on their way to York...or so one hoped!

In the event, Steam Locos 1Z40 Royal Scot was delayed 8 minutes passing at 12:12hrs and either due to this or some other reason, 1Z34 Duchess of Sutherland was delayed 52 minutes, passing at 12:38hrs.

Plan of Swinton (SY) Rail Station.

But never mind about that. There were plenty of other trains either stopping or passing through to photograph or video whilst waiting.

Some other trains seen while waiting for the main event were:-

66508 passes through Swinton(SY) Rail Station. Hauling 35 wagons!

...and I do like a signal, 'S461'!
..and bonus Signal "S466".

08 DECEMBER 2021 - 45231 THE SHERWOOD FORESTER "1Z31 CHATSWORTH HOUSE TOUR" AT CHESTERFIELD.

My second visit to Chesterfield this season and of course it is sheeting-it down and very cold! The Sherwood Forester was scheduled to come in on platform 3. I got there with 15 minutes to spare for the scheduled arrival time. Here the service would stop and disembark passengers for an afternoon's visit to Chatsworth House. The whole train would then travel up the line to Barrow Hill LIP, park up ready for the return journey late in the afternoon.

St. Mary's and All Saints Church from platform 3. The twisted Spire.

Unfortunaly the service was delayed by about 39 minutes, so many of us 'enthusiasts' had to squeeze into 3 small platform shelters (socially distancing, of course), against the bitterly cold wind and driving rain. The Sherwood Forester duly arrived at 11:48am, but for some reason I didn't get video or photos of this. But I did grab a few photos and video of it leaving for Barrow Hill. It all seemed a bit 'rushed' and very cramped on the platform with the passengers and the 'Enthusiasts'.

The Driver obliged me with a photo. Great stuff Driver!

I also got the Fireman in...busy shovelling coal.

30 OCTOBER 2021 - 6223 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND "184H THE MIDLAND BRISTOLIAN" AT DERBY.

Welcome to Derby.
Yeah...welcome to Derby! I got the early train to get into Derby by 9am. It was teaming-down with rain all the way, even in Derby (as can be seen in the photos) and it was cold!
At 9:15am, I was surprised to see 47775 at the head of a rake of Mk1 coaches with bringing-up the rear, 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. But 47775 was slated to haul "The Midland Bristolian" from Crewe to Derby. So it shouldn't have been a surprise as this would enable 6233 to lead easily out of Derby without all that faffing-about of turning the steam loco up and down the tracks. But what a sight. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland is a very smart looking steam loco!

Looking west, from where "The Midland Bristolian" will emerge lead by 47775.

The Midland Bristolian arrives. 47775 leads the way into the station, while 6233 Duchess of Sutherland brings up the rear so that she can lead on the way out.

Having just arrived as trailing-loco, 6233's red-tail light to be replaced.

Service Crew place forward-lights on 6233.

The 2nd forward-light is placed.

Tail-light removed and Forward-direction lights in position. Ready to Go!
