6th May 2023 - 1Z80 'NORTHERN BELLE' DERBY TO EDINBURGH (featuring 'King Charles III God Save The King' Head-Plate) at DONCASTER RAIL STATION.

 Today is the Coronation of 'King Charles III & Queen Camilla'. To mark this occasion, a special 'Northern Belle' is to run from Derby to Edinburgh, sporting a Coronation headboard.

On Saturday 6th May, prior to the Coronation, I was at Doncaster to see 1Z80 'Northern Belle' headed by 57314 Conwy Castle and sporting a rather impressive nameplate. 57313 Scarborough Castle bringing-up the rear. The service was due to arrive at 08:49hrs, but was early, which gave me ample opportunity to get lots of photos and chat to the driver. 

Also, at various times, King Charles & Queen Camilla were to be heard over the tannoy system of the station, giving routine station safety announcements!

 I travelled down to Peterborough station to catch a sighting of '60007 Sir Nigel Gresley'. Just a short ride up the line towards Kings Cross, only taking 50 or so minutes. While there I viewed a few other trains which also enhanced the morning.

 Whist in town, I grabbed a quick 90 minutes at Doncaster Station to photograph whatever came my way. No 'Specials', just the routine timetable. Saw an old acquaintance from my work-years on the railway. We exchanged greeting only as he was boarding a London-bound train on work business.
