This is the 1st leg of an around UK rail journey. Fortunately, this 1st leg is from Kings Cross to York and passes through Doncaster, non-stop. Which is a shame as The Duchess of Sutherland is such a great-looking steam loco that it is always a pleasure to get up close and personal to it. But not this time.
Prior to The Great Britain XIV, a class 47, the number of which, I didn't catch, belonging to West Coast Railways thunders through the station. Towards York?
Soon after, The Duchess of Sutherland and The Great Britain XIV thundered through...and that was it!
Whilst waiting for The Duchess, a class 91 electric loco, 91110 pulled into platform 4 bound for Edinburgh with a wonderful "Battle of Britain Memorial Flight" livery. Whilst Motor Car 82222 brings up the tail.
