27th NOVEMBER 2024: 1Z43 THE CHRISTMAS WHITE ROSE to YORK CHRISTMAS MARKET with 7029 'CLUN CASTLE'

This is the first of a two-day Header to York and steam locomotives. I hope to see 70000 'Britannia; on the 28th. But today, the steam loco is 4-6-0, Castle Class, 7029 'Clun Castle'.

It's rare to see 4-6-0 Clun Castle in this part of the country. So there is no excuse, this is a 'must-do' visit to see this fine steam loco. Built in 1950 and designed by Charles Collett for the Great Western Region and named after the 11th centuary castle on the welsh boarder.

Based at Tyseley Locomotive Works, Clun Castle made its first mainline tour in 2019 after 31 years.

11th DECEMBER 2024: 1Z22- NORWICH to YORK CHRISTMAS EXPRESS WITH 44871 BLACK 5 at DONCASTER RAIL STATION.

Black 5, 44871 steams past Doncaster Rail Station on the DF-line to York.

The steam locomotive, 44871, a 'Black 5' was scheduled to pass through Doncaster today. So instead of travelling up to York, I opted for a change and watch from Donny, going full throttle down the fast line.

170454 calls at P3B bound for Sheffield.

Got to the station with half hour to spare, so time to view other traction on the lines.

150275 departs P4 for Sheffield.

Well worth visiting the station as it's allways good to see a Stanier Black 5 at full throttle/steam!

28th NOVEMBER 2024: 1Z70-LONDON KINGS CROSS to YORK with 34046 BRAUNTON at DONCASTER RAIL STATION.

I was supposed to go to York to view Braunton, but I felt like a change of station and besides I wanted to see the steam loco at speed as it charged through Doncaster. And charge it did, as since it departed Kings Cross, it was continually 30-40 minutes down on sheduled time. Finally arriving at York, its destination, 38 minutes down at 13:07hrs.
