26th May 2025: 1Z45 - LEEDS to LONDON St. PANCRAS at SHEFFIELD RAIL STATION with 45118 'THE ROYAL ARTILLERYMAN'.

 

Arrived at Sheffield, 25 mins before and at the same platform, 6, as Peak class, 45118, 'The Royal Artilleryman' was due  in. I and others began to settle-in and pick our spots on the platform. This neccessitated an early start from home to get to Sheffield before 45118 was due in. Something, I am not particulary found of!

One settled, I waited for the loco and in no time at all, it was pulling into the platform. No sooner had the train stopped, than horde of 'enthusiasts' pour out of the carriages. These would most likely be Class 45 'enthusiasts' mixed with general 'train enthusiasts'.

|So, a good 10 minutes of taking photos along with the 'horde', as the train waited for a passing train, before it could move off and continue its journey down to London St. Pancras. As the loco revved-up and started to move south, I could feel the rumbling from the platform as the loco moved away with Mk 2 coaches behind and 47593, in Inter City livery, trailing. A fine close view of this class 45 diesel loco from a classic loco from a bygone era!
